VIDEO

"No - You don't know how we feel!" is a 25 minute video made by children for families facing the life-threatening illness of a parent. Nine young people got together with three palliative care social workers and a video-maker and produced their own film of their experiences. The children decided on the topics they wanted to cover, interviewed each other, operated the camera and made the final editing decisions. The end result is a video that lets the children's voices and views come through clearly, and that has much to say not only to parents but also to palliative care professionals and teachers.

The video project is part of the doctoral research being undertaken by Gillian Chowns, a BRF member and a senior social worker and senior lecturer in palliative care. Copies of the video, priced £10, are available from her <gillian.chowns@berkshire.nhs.uk> or by phoning 01753 860441 xtn 6137
